The Riddler is a villian from the DC Comics universe, co-created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang. His first appearance was in the Detective Comics #140, which came out in October 1948. The alter ego of Edward "E." Nigma, his persona is based entirely on puzzles and riddles, which he uses to try and prove that he is more intelligent than Batman. His desire to prove his intelligence is often his downfall, as he always leaves clues to help Batman capture him.
Scarecrow has appeared in almost every form of media, as well as many video games based on the DC Universe. These include the Batman: Arkham series, Batman: The Animated Series, in LEGO Batman: The Videogame, Young Justice: Legacy, and much more.
