Tom Nook is a character from the Animal Crossing series of games.
His name comes from the Japanese word, tanuki, which is a raccoon dog native to Japan, although he is called a raccoon in English. He usually appears as one of the first characters that players meet, as he loans you a house. In all other games besides New Leaf, Tom owns the general store and runs his business. However, in New Leaf, he runs a real estate company.
