The Mario Golf series has become more complex as technology improved, but the main principal has always stayed the same, get the ball in the hole in as few shots as possible.
The Goal
Generally, the aim of the Mario Golf games are to complete the course with the lowest score possible, and out play all your opponents, although some modes in the game take a twist on this aim.
Characters
All characters in the Mario Golf series are usually Mario and friends, but in NES Open Tournament Golf the players were instead all human, apart from Mario and Luigi. As the games have gone on, more and more characters have been added to the series, with humans no longer appearing in any of the games.
Courses
This game has featured a wide range of courses, from desert to forest courses, and sometimes based on other Mario games and real world famous courses on occaisions.
Common Game Modes
Stoke Play and Match Play are the modes that are most commonly featured in almost every game in the series.
Stroke Play
The object of Stroke Play is to finish the course in the least amount of strokes as possible.
Match Plays
The object of Mat Play is to get a final score based on if it was par, or over or under par.
