Fruit Ninja is an action game developed by Halfbrick Studios. The objective of the game involves the player slicing up as much fruit as they can in the allocated time. Players can also edit their blade, buy items from the Gutsu's Cart, and play in online multiplayer.
Game Modes
Fruit Ninja has three diffrent game modes:
Classic Mode
- In this mode, your objective is to slice as many fruit without letting three fruits drop down or hitting one of the purple bombs. There is no time limit, and no power-ups, but extra bonus points are rewarded when you combo more than two fruits in one slice.
Zen Mode
- In this mode, you have 90 seconds to get the highest score you can. There are no bombs to get in the way and there is no limit on how many fruit you can drop. There is also special banana power-ups which help boost your score.
Arcade Mode
- In this mode, you have 60 seconds to slice as much fruit as possible with power-ups and combos to boost your score, however there are bombs which take away 10 points and make all fruit on screen disappear.
Special Fruit
In Zen Mode and Arcade Mode, players may run into special banana's that offer one of three power-ups:
- Frenzy - Loads of fruit rush onto the screen to be destroyed
- Double Point - Every fruit you slice is worth 2 points instead of 1
- Freeze - Slows down fruit and stops time for a short period of time
Another special fruit is the pomegranate, which you slice as many times as you can before it disappears. This fruit can appear randomly in Classic Mode and always appears at the end of every Arcade Mode game.
The final special item, although not really a fruit, is the ultra rare pitaya which can be acquired from Classic Mode and is worth 50 points when sliced.
Scoring
Every fruit you slice is worth one point, two if the special banana affect, Double Point, score is on. When three or more fruit are sliced simultaneously, even more points are gained as a combo.
Every time you manage to reach a score with a multiple of 100, you gain an extra life, unless ypu missed a fruit.
Gutsu's Cart
In each game mode you can acquire starfruit. These can be used to purchase items in Gutsu's shop for items that can help obtain high scores:
Bomb Deflect
- When you hit a bomb it does not end your game.
Berry Blasts
- Strawberry's are worth 5 points when sliced and explode destroying any other fruits within radius.
Peachy Times
- Gives 2 more seconds for Zen Mode and Arcade Mode when a peach is sliced.
Online Multiplayer
Multiplayer can be played on iOS devices where two players go head to head to see who lasts the longest. Your blade is blue and the opponents blade is red. You have to slice your own fruit, while white fruits are neutral and can be sliced by either player and are worth 3 points.
