The gameplay for Golf is simple: try to get the ball into the hole in as few shots as possible, avoiding hazards and obsticles on the way.
Game Modes
Stroke Play
- This is the average stroke play game in which the player has to finish the course in as few strokes as possible, unlike match play, where your score is given according to weather you got par, or over or under par.
Doubles Stroke Play
- This is a game mode of a slightly different version of the game called Vs Stroke an Match Play, the same game but with an additional character, a women, mario can team up with her and play Doubles stroke play which is a two player pass and play mode in which the aim is to complete the course in as few strokes as possible.
Match Play
- This is your regular round of golf in which you play in real life, the aim to is to try and get your score as far into the minus numbers as possible by getting under the par number of shots.
Power & Accuracy
- The power gauge and the power you can hit with a club is surprisingly similar to that of the modern day Mario Golf games, although you could only guess how far your shot will go, as the power gauge is not accurate and there is no indication of where the ball is going to land as the screen is just a screenshot of the course until you take the shot.
The interface is very basic, you get a screenshot of the course you are on and a Mario preparing to take a shot, and the power gauge will change on the part of the screen by the controls you press to take the shot.
