THQ and Volition, Inc. are equally excited to make this vision of a completely new game universe into a reality."
August 2012 - THQ announced the cancellation of the project. The intellectual property rights transferred to del Toro.
November 2012 - Guillermo del Toro announced that despite THQ's financial difficulties and subsequent cancellation of the game, Insane is still currently in development with an as yet undisclosed developer.
January 2013 - del Toro once again made clear that the project is still in the works. He also revealed that he was in talks with one of the larger video game companies and that they "really responded to the game, they responded to what we were trying".
