The game joins Pheonix Wright and Professor Layton on their quest to solve the mystery of Labyrinth City. Gameplay contains elements from the two franchises that the titular characters originate from. This includes challanging puzzles from the Layton puzzle franchise and trial elements from the Pheonix Wright series.
During the puzzle sequences, players must explore various environments as well as interact with in-game characters to find clues and solve the mystery of Labyrinth city.
The trial segments require the player to take control of the Ace Attorney as he attempts to cross examine witnesses in order to successfully defend his client.
