Tales of destiny traversal methods are as usual retty similar to past its predecessor Tales of Phantasia and RPGs in general. though varied Vistas and a good sense of scale help breath life into the traversal elements of Tales of Destiny.
Battle System
Tales of Destiny uses an enhanced version of the Linear Motion Battle System that appeared in first game of the series, Tales of Phantasia. Battles still take place on a 2d plane and are still in real time, though combos are more fluent than in Phantasia as well as character movement in general.
Artes
In the tales series Artes are used to dish out extra damage aside from typical character combos. In general these abilities are learned over the course of the game by leveling and in some cases side events. Moves are usually designated to one button and 4 artes can be mapped Linking these moves with your normal combos is the bread and butter of the Tales series in terms of being offensive.
Swordians
Tales of Destiny allows certain characters to use Swordians which are living weapons. These swordians function like regular swords as well as giving characters specific elemental spells. This allows characters who would typically never use spells to benefit from thier power.
