Dustforce is a 2D action/platform game. The game has over 50 levels from exploration maps to challenges. As an acrobatic janitor, you are an adept force against dust and disorder. Leap and dash off walls and ceilings, and deftly traverse precarious environments.
Basic Gameplay
The player chooses one of the four Dustforce janitors. Each one varies slightly in jumping height and weapon type (brooms and vacuums), but all feature the same basic moves. You must make your way to the end of each level, sweeping up debris on the walls or floors as you go and usually facing enemies that wait in a final area.

Your character performs jumps, double jumps, wall jumps and mid-air dashes with acrobatic finesse and can also cling to the ceiling. Creatures can be cleaned and returned to normal with regular and super attacks. There are also checkpoints along the way that the player will restart at if they perish.
Ranking and Scoring
At the end of each level, the player is ranked based on finesse, which is determined by the combo meter, and completion, which is determined by the amount of debris and enemies cleaned. Based on performance, a letter grade is earned from "D" to "A", and an "S" grade represents a perfect combo or full completion. Completing a level with an "S" grade in both finesse and completion earns one of three colored keys which unlock new levels.
There is also global leaderboard ranking. By hitting multiple patches of debris quickly, the player can build up a combo multiplier and increase their score greatly, although the combo meter only stays active for a few seconds. Player replays are stored online for people to see how players accomplished their scoring.
Multiplayer
Dustforce features local multiplayer matches for up to four players with modes such as survival and king of the hill, where players scale the level and combat each other. Players can compete with some controlling the janitors doing the cleaning, and others playing as the debris makers.
Level Editor
Players can create and share custom maps with the level editor and integrated map sharing server. The PlayStation and Xbox versions will include 150 user created levels voted on by players.
