When a player enters a combat area, the thug's stats will appear in the bottom left of the screen with a number of icons, bars, and bubbles. This information is used to engage in combat and complete the objective.

Movement
In order to engage in combat, the play must first find an enemy and/or gain a line of sight. To do this the player uses MP (Movement Points) to walk to any location on the map. When all MP is depleted, the player must hit the End Turn button and allow their enemies to take a turn. Note that all MP is usually depleted after when performing most attacks, so it is best to move before engaging in combat.
The total MP is indicated in the bottom left of the screen by green bubbles.
Combat
Once an enemy is spotted the player can select a weapon from their info panel in the bottom left corner of the screen and attack. If the player is armed with a melee weapon they will need to move in close, while a ranged weapon only requires line of sight. Each attack consumes its own AP (Action Points) cost and the player can continue until they deplete all AP points.
The total AP is indicated in the bottom left of the screen by red bubbles.
Initiative Bar
When the player engages in combat an initiative bar appears at the top of the screen. Using this, the player can decide which enemy to attack next for a tactical advantage; such as defeating a wounded enemy before it has a chance to fire on your team.
Cover
Cover spots are defensive positions that can be used to gain a tactical advantage and the use of them is advantageous to the player. Note that some cover objects can be destroyed if they take too many hits.
Health
When a character is wounded in combat, their HP (Health Points) is depleted. If the player loses all their HP the character will become unconscious.
The total HP is indicated in the bottom left of the screen by a brown bar with a number listed out of a total: for example, 120 / 150.
Courage
When a character is wounded in combat they lose CP (Courage Points), as well as HP. CP is regained slowly each turn, but if it should fall below 20 the character will become panicked, losing AP and MP until CP is restored.
