Skylanders Giants - Gameplay Mechanics

Skylanders Giants is a 3D platformer which resembles games such as those in the LEGO series but mixed with RPG elements. Just like Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, this game is a toy/videogame hybrid that combines real toys with a videogame to deliver a unique and one of a kind experience.

The Skylander characters appear on screen when they are put on the Portal of Power. The Starter Pack comes with three toys and other toys are available for purchase separately.

Since this is a multiplatform release, your progress is saved in your toys which can then be used on any console. The game is also backwards compatible, which means that you can use your leveled up toys from Spyro's Adventure in this game as well. And since the level cap has been raised from Level 10 to Level 15 for all Skylanders, bringing your old toys into this game still means a lot of fun.

Skylanders Giants introduces the Giants for the first time which are Skylanders that are bigger and stronger than the ordinary Skylanders. They also have extremely powerful abilities such as the ability to smash walls or create holes in the ground. Plus, Giants glow without batteries when they are placed on the Portal of Power.

Skylanders that light up when they are placed on the Portal of Power are known as Lightcore Skylanders. Besides all the Giants there are other Lightcore Skylanders in the game as well that can defeat all surrounding enemies when they are placed in the game. Plus, Lightcore Skylanders have different poses than their regular models.
