True to the Shadowrun name, the game is a cyberpunk-themed RPG with fantasy elements. It is set across two cities: Seattle, Washington and Berlin, Germany. The game will also include a storyline that connects with both the SNES and Genesis Shadowrun titles.

The game world’s origin story is a mix of dystopian Cyberpunk future (similar to the film Blade Runner) and high fantasy creatures and races (similar to Lords of the Rings) that produces iconic characters, environments, and situations.
According to the Mayan Calendar, the world was supposed to end on December 21, 2012. In Shadowrun, this calendar actually charts the ebb and flow of magic from the Earth. So, on 12/21/12 magic was due to return, end this world, and wreak holy havoc while starting the next.
As the magic increases, Elf and Dwarf babies are born to those parents who carry the right combination of long-dormant genes. Meanwhile, "goblinization" painfully reshapes the teenage bodies of those unlucky enough to carry dominant Ork or Troll genes. And then the first Great Dragon rises from its 5,200 yearlong hibernation and circles over Tokyo, signaling that the magic of the world has truly woken up.

Fast forward two generations, to a world transformed not only by the growth of magic but by the acceleration of cyber technology, and by the near elimination of governments as they are replaced megacorporations.
Moving through the dark shadows cast by these corporations are Shadowrunners – disposable assets and corporate pawns scratching out a living using a combination of technology, magic, and instinct. Shadowrunners live between the cracks and operate outside the law, doing the dirty work that corporations won’t soil their hands with and occasionally acting as the only protection the citizenry can turn to.
Enter Jessica Watts, a woman in need of your help. Her brother, and your old friend, Sam Watts has been murdered and she asks you to find out why and by whom.
Not only must you solve Sam's murder, but also the murders of a series of victims whose organs have been cut out by their killer. It is a murder noir thriller that reaches to the highest parts of this strange society to the lowest slums and begins in the Seattle morgue - the current resting place of your friend Sam.
