The game retains the same basic gameplay mechanics from the previous entries in the Counter-Strike franchise, but adds a host of new multiplayer modes that are completely new to it.
Free-2-Play & Microtransactions
While the game is completely free-to-play and enables user generated content, a system of micropayment is utilized to purchase special weapons and other gadgets for limited amounts of time.

VIP
A mode from the original Counter-Strike, the Counter-Terrorists must escort the VIP safely to a designated safety area or eliminate all Terrorist forces in the map. The Terrorists, on the other hand, must assassinate the VIP before he gets to the chopper or wait until time runs out.

Deathmatch
The players compete against each other to get the highest kill score.

Counter-Terrorists compete against Terrorists to get the highest kill score.
Zombie: The Original
Follows the popular, unofficial mods of Zombie Mod - specifically, Infection mode.
Zombie: The Mutation
Introduces supply boxes for humans, which include exclusive special weapons and new zombie types for zombie team.
Zombie: The Hero
Introduces a Morale Bar for humans, which can increase attack damage for humans by 10% with each zombie kill. Zombies will revive after death unless headshot.

Zombie Scenario: Survival
This mode pits up to 10 players against increasingly harder waves of AI controlled zombies. While the player is able to buy extra health and damage, the levels continue to get harder with zombies having more health and abilities.

Last Clue
This map features only 2 rounds:
The first round requires players to break through obstacles while battling attacking zombies. Players spawn at the nearest checkpoint, but have to wait 60 seconds to 1 minute. Once all the obstacles have been broken, and half the players reach the checkpoint, the second round starts.
The second round pits players against an boss, Phobos. After a set amount of time, normal zombies start appearing, creating an even harder challenge.
Chaos
Players face a maze of underground laboratories while they try to reach the surface. Once on the surface, the players have to defeat a Siege-type Phobos.
Dead End
Players must go through an expanded version of Havana to find and defeat a new boss called Oberon.

Skill Challenge
Challenge Mod closely that follows "Fun" maps, where players compete in scenarios utilizing jumping, running, bunny hopping, and/or surfing to get to the end of the level.
Fun Mode: Hidden
In this mode, the first player who reaches the target number of kills wins the game.
Fun Mode: Zombie Escape
In this mode, the humans must escape from zombies by reaching a boat. The mode is limited to 10 players and is round-based with one player chosen as the host zombie and must infect all humans to prevent them from reaching the escape zone.
Fun Mode: Bazooka Battle
In this mode, the players can only use Bazooka and must eliminate the opposing team. The players also move faster than usual to avoid the blast radius.
Gun Deathmatch
Based on a Counter-Strike mod, Gun Game, this mode was released as the response of a new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive mode, Arsenal.
World Cup 2010 Mode
Released in conjunction with the 2010 FIFA World Cup, this mode includes 2 new soccer maps, 2 football types and new character skins. The main objective is to score points by kicking the ball into the oppositions goal.
