Counter-Strike is a Valve Software franchise that was born during 1999 as a modification of Half-Life done independently by Jess Cliffe and Minh Le. As popularity grew and further versions of the mod were released, Valve Software bought the rights to Counter-Strike and continued its development. Finally in November of 2000, Counter-Strike was released.
The original game was a hit among PC gamers during the start of last decade, highly contributing to the massification of the online multiplayer first person shooting games and gaining a cult following worldwide. The terrorists vs. counter-terrorists theme, the cooperative mission based structure of the matches and the almost endless customization options were the highest praises in the gaming community.
