Battle Worlds: Kronos is a turn-based strategy game and revival of classic turn-based strategy games like Battle Isle and Advance Wars with modern era graphics. The game features a single player campaign, where you fight for the Yerla faction or Rebels, with up to 30 hours of gameplay and live or asynchronous multiplayer.
Like many RTS games, Battle Worlds: Kronos is about using your units and resources to the greatest possible effect through the positioning of units, attack range, armament and equipped upgrades.
Game Modes
Single Player Campaign
In the single player campaign you can fight either as the Yerla faction, a highly technologized army, or the Rebels, a low tech resistance that must make do with what they’ve got and fight a guerilla war.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer can be played online or via hot-seat versus your friends or random challengers. Additionally, asynchronous multiplayer allows for a play-by-mail type combat, with no-time constraints. Actions are stored on the server and allows continuation of the match at anytime and anywhere.
Single Player Challenge Maps
Challenge maps offer different combat scenarios to test your skill and keep track of your progress.
Units
Unique Types
All units have their own particular characteristic and special features, with well-defined strength and weaknesses. They are then further customized through personally customized and enhanced upgrades, making each unit even more unique.
Choosing the types of units used in a combat are personal strategic decisions.
Unit Positioning
Units are placed on a hex-field map and the available terrain is divided into honeycomb-like surface, upon which the units are moved and placed.
Some units can attack opponents several hex fields away, but some can only attack opponents on the ajacent hex field. The same applies to counter-attacks.
Combat
When a unit is attacked, it will be damaged. The amount of damage is reflected on the unit's hit points. The amount of the damage the unit sustains depends partly on the attacking unit, it's target, terrain and whether the target unit is in a defensive position. When any unit reaches zero hit points it will exlode and be destroyed.

Pincer Movement / Pincer Effect
When a unit is surrounded with enemy units, the Pincer Movement and Pincer Effect is initiated. This effect adds to the attack damage factor of the surrounded unit, with the more enemy units present on the adjacent hex-fields meaning more damage inflicted.
Counter-Attack
After a unit is attacked during the opponent's turn it may fire back as part of a counter-attack. The attack of the damaged unit will be weaker than one with full hit points.
Defense
A unit can defend itself only the number of times that it can attack during its own turn, which for most units is once per round.
Community
With a focus on community, the developers have added a forum, match-making system, and a game ladder system for healthy competition between its community. Additionally, a game editor that will enable the community to create their own maps for single or multiplayer battles.
Tournaments
Tournaments of different sizes are planned to be kept among the community members. This will allow the best strategists around the world to compete with other opponents of similar skill.
