The PlayStation 4 is Sony's 8th generation console, that was first revealed at a PlayStation event on February 20, 2013. It is set to be released in the holiday period of 2013 and is the successor to the PlayStation 3.

The console will have many feature upgrades with a focus on user friendliness and operability. A large part of the function of this system revolves around the newly revealed DualShock 4 controller. The controller features a new share button that allows players to instantly upload the last several minutes of video or live stream their gameplay while viewers make comments that pop-up right on screen. It also will allow functionality such as the ability to invite friends to instantly join your game or even take over control of your game for you.
