Akaneiro: Demon Hunters - Gameplay

Akaneiro: Demon Hunters' world is separated in to Regions, which represent a quadrant of Yomi Island. Each Region contains several Areas, each presenting a different environment style, introducing new enemy and boss types, and contains several missions, forming a small story arc.

 

Creating a Character

At the beginning of the game the player will be required to make a character and name it. Although the game features a small amount of customization, such as gender, the major selection is the sort of Discipline the character will follow.

Prowess

Follower of the Red Girl. They lead the charge with bravery and skill. These hunters are fierce warriors, who can focus anger to provide great strength. They employ abilities that close distance and maximize damage.

Bonuses:

  • Increased POWER (+damage)
  • Prowess training discount

Mastery

  • Dual Wielding I
  • Medium Armor I

Starting Ability

  • Rain of Blows I - Damage and stun multiple enemies with a rapid melee assault.

Fortitude

Followers of the Forest Mother. hey are models of patience and endurance. These hunters are stalwart and reliable defenders, who channel natural energies into defense and support abilities.

Bonuses:

  • Increased DEFENSE (+armor)
  • Fortitude training discount

Mastery

  • Two-Handed I
  • Heavy Armor I

Starting Ability:

  • Iron Thorns I - Attackers are impaled on deadly iron thorns

Cunning

Followers of the Dark Huntsman. They are precise and resourceful stalkers. These hunters plan carefully before taking action, using ranged attacks and evasion to confuse and ambush the enemy.

Bonuses:

  • Increased SKILL (+critical chance)
  • Cunning training discount

Mastery

  • Dueling I
  • Light Armor I

Starting Ability

  • Steady Shot I - A carefully aimed shot stuns and damages a single enemy. Charge for more damage.

Controlling a Character

As a point and click game, character movement is based on left clicking the ground to move the character from one location to the next, or holding the button down to move continuously.

Combat

When encountering enemies, players similarly must left click on a valid target to attack. In order to prevent missed clicks from moving a character, hold shift to lock the character's position.

Abilities

Each character can equip abilities to be used in combat by right clicking. These abilities appear in the bottom right of the screen and can be tabbed between to perform devastating attacks or defense abilities.

Health and Energy

There are two circles at the bottom of the screen, one indicates your health and the other energy.

    Accepting a Mission

    Each town has a Bounty Master, who will offer quests for the area that the player can complete for experience and karma shards.

    Each quests has a synopsis, a standard experience and karma shard payout, and a threat level. Threat levels determine the mission difficult, payouts, and drop rates. Higher threat missions offer the player better experience, but fewer good drops, while low threat missions offer better drops with lower difficulty and less experience.

    Completing a Missions

    After each mission is completed, the player is graded on their success.

    High Threat Bonus:

    • the experience and karma bonus based on the threat level of the mission.

    Mission Earning:

    • the experience and karma earned during the mission.

    Leveling Up

    When a player levels up at the end of a mission they will be asked to select a certain discipline, with the affected stats shown.

    Karma Shards

    Karma Shards are dropped by enemies and are the form of currency to buy weapons, armor, and even unlock new locations on the world map, and thereby unlocking new missions.

     

    Shops

    There are a multitude of shops in town where players can buy/sell weapons and armor, gain buffs, or train to become stronger.

    Shammy Mart

    The Shammy Mart is where the player can buy food that bonuses specific stats for a limited amount of time.

    Trainers

    Using Karma Shards, players can purchase new Abilities, Weapon Mastery, and Armor Mastery from any discipline via the Trainers.

    Summoners

    Using Karma Shards, players can purchase a pet summon from the Summoner. These pets appear on the map with the player, running alongside them, and grant a temporary boost in ability. They do not engage in combat.

    Crafting Shop

    The crafting shop is where the player can create straonger equipment by collecting raw materials from fallen enemies and using them to add specific properties.

    Multiplayer

    Although the developers plans to have online multiplayer, currently players can only summon other players as AI partners. These AI controlled allies will follow the player and aid them in their quest.

    When summoned, the owner of a character will receive bonuses for having their character summoned to another players game.
