Game Modes
Cobalt is all about game modes and a variety of modes have already been added, with possible additions in the future. So far, there are a total of eight game modes, five of which can be played on local multiplayer.
Multiplayer Mode
Currently, multiplayer is limited to local multiplayer only, however on the Oxeye blog it has been mentioned that online multiplayer is very likely to be added in the final release.
Capture the Plug - A themed version of the original "Capture the Flag," it has similar rules apart from a few twists. For example, players gain loot which could be weapons from killing a player and instead of a flag, the player carries a plug, with the goal being to plug it in to a volt converter to score points.
Deathmatch - Three teams of eight players aim is to kill the enemy the most in a set period of time.

Bounty
This new mode has you collecting Volts from loot that is laying around the map or by killing other players and gaining their loot when dropped. To bank this loot into your final score, you must get to the Volt Converter with your bounty without dying. The first player or team to collected the required amount wins.
Challenge
Challenge has a simple goal of completing maps of varying difficulty to obtain a record time on the local hi-score boards.
Survival
The main single player mode, players must defeat increasingly stronger waves of enemies while trying to gain as many Volts as possible. With some advantages for the player, such as hard to reach areas or lockable and unlockable doors, players can take a breather to recover from possible injuries. Players can also buy weapons with their Volts to enhance their performance during high difficulty waves.
Weapons
Weapons in Cobalt come in 10 different catorgeries; laser, matter, melee, missle, rail, ranged, rod, slug and throwables. With thirty six weapons in total.
Laser
There is only one laser based weapon in the game so far and that is the beam gun, it shoots red hot lasers and has 40 pieces of ammunition per magazine.
Matter
There are six of these types of weapons in the game these are Matter Army issue gun, which fires matter at a automatic rate and is a handgun, matter assult which is the rifle version of the Matter Army Issue gun, Matter Canon, which fires big pieces of matter at a slow rate but high impact, Matter police issue, which is very similar to the Army issue but much less powerful and fires small sizes matter, Matter protoype which is a small and unefficient gun which deals small damage cand has a long reload time, and matter war which is an assault rifle which fires matter at a very fast and powerful rate but slows the player down a lot.
Melee
So far there is only one melee weapon and that is a force device, this device is often carried by ninjas and if you come in contact with this device when thrown you will be knocked back and paralysed for a few seconds.
Missle
There is only one missle weapon in the game so far and that is a missle launcher, which is fairly self explanatory and fires a powerful missle and if hit takes a lot of damage which could kill a player at close range.
Rail
There are five rail weapons in the game so far, all of which are quite powerful but do not carry much amunition and have a very slow reload speed. The five weapons are; Rail Cannon, the most powerful of all, very similar to the matter cannon but instead fires explosives and can kill at close range, Rail defender, which acts as a gun and a shield but this results in slowing the player down and reloading slowly, Rail gun which is your standard rifle but a bit more powerful than most, Rail scout, which is a fairly light gun but does minimal damage and is not carried by most as it is only to protect yourself when scouting an area and Rail Screamer, which is a unique and powerful weapon which can knock a player of it's feet but as a result carrys small amounts of amunition and really slows you down.
Ranged
These weapons are fairly self explainatory and are very good at far range, there are three of these weapons in the game, Beam gun and matter army issure and explained previously, and Slugger assault which is best suited for the start of a match to get a good start and give the opponent some damage.
Rod
There are currently four of these weapons in the game, all of which carry a lot of ammo and are quite powerful, alas, there ammo is expensive. These wapons are Rail Cannon, Rail Defender, Rail Scout and Rail Gun.
Slug
There are currently six of these weopons in the game, these weapons are the strongest in the game and therefore most expensive due to there high power and accuracy, these are Slugger assault as previously mention, Slugger Breacher which is a good rifle to storm an enemy area hence the name, Slugger Cobra, which is similar to Slugger assault but less powerful and less amunition, Slugger Pipegun which is a very powerful weapon and one of the most expensive in the game, Slugger Revolution which is also a very powerful gun and looks very nice and doesnt slow you down much which is also why it is a expensive weapon, Slugger revolver which is the best handgun in the game and is very lightweight and accurate, but not as powerful as some, and a spike bow which is a average bow and arow with a sharp tip which is deadly at long range.
Throwable
There is only one throwable item in the game and that is the Forced device as previously mentioned.
NPC's
There are currently twelve types of NPC so far in Cobalt with all of them being hostile and no Neutral or friendly NPC's so far althought there be a few when the beta version is realesed.
Easy Difficulty NPC's
Bird, these are one of the easiest NPC's to defeat and can be taken out with a few shots of an average handgun, they appear frequently on early rounds of survival.
Hamster, these are also one of the easier NPC's to defeat, they tend to be quite slow and not very hard to defeat either, although they have quite a strong bite if you get too close.
Trunkan,. despite the slightly scary name, these can be taken out quite easy, not as easy as the bird or the hamster and may need a few more shots at far range.
Shroom, these are one of the easiest to defeat in the game as long as you don't get to close as they might poison you, but are very slow and can't usually get that close to you if you shoot them unless you don't notice them
Medium Difficulty NPC's
Fly Robot, although these are quite easy to defeat these use the element of suprise well as they can be hard to see on maps with a lot going on which is why there used on hard waves of survival.
Sentary, although this is just you average sentary gun these can be quite powerful but they are easy to escape from as they dont move, you can but these easily at the volt shop but will only move your permission.
Spikebird, these can be you friends of foes, they will remain a neutral NPC until provoked an then your in trouble, these could quite easily kill you and appear frequently on survival.
Guard, these only appear on challenge maps and usually carry high damage weapons but are very slow so it is easy to escape them unless they have a far range weapon.
Hard Difficulty NPC's
Air Bomb, these NPC's are very powerful but can be at times inaccurate, but if these NPC's get a direct hit on you, your in trouble, at close range one direct hit could kill you.
Ninja, possibly one of the hardest NPC's in the game, they almost always carry Forced device's which make them very fustrating to defeat, this is why they are almost always on hard challenges and later survival waves.
Predator, hence then name, your it's prey, these are very powerful and fast, but can sometimes be accurate, when faced with one of these in survival it is good to try and find cover as it's attack range is not to far.
Metalface, one of the rarest NPC's in the game, it is quite big which makes it slow but is very powerful and could very much kill you in one shot, at almost any range if it is a direct hit.
Maps
Maps are the space in which all game modes on Colbalt take place, each game mode has maps that are played it, and some maps play on multiple game modes.

These usually take play on enviromental extremes and maps include a few frozen maps with icebergs, to the other end of the spectrun, volcanos and high mountains.
Team Deathmatch Maps
These can take place in a variety of places some maps are enviromental extremes like capture the plug, but can sometimes be in buildings such as towers and city buildings, some take place in ruins and tombs and one map even goes outer space.
Survival Maps
Like the previous two these would obviously take place in enviromental extremes but take place in some unique locations too such as a bird temple or a reasearch facility
Bounty Map
These take place in many places like survival maps but none set in envirmental extremes with mainly unique location like a hard rock and a reactor, one map even being a scrapyard.
