Wildstar is a Sci-Fi MMORPG, where you create a character and evolve it through dangerous adventures. You can play alone and with other players and explore the different areas the planet Nexus has to offer. As the game is still in beta, you can Sign Up for Beta by accessing the official website.

Character Creation
When you create a character, you will have to choose the following characteristics:
- Faction: Exiles or Dominion
- Race: Human, Aurin, Granok, Mordesh, Cassian, Draken, Chua, Mechari
- Gender: Male or Female
- Class: Warrior, Esper, Stalkers, Spellslinger, Engineer, Medic
- Path: Soldier, Explorer, Scientist or Settler
- Appearance: Hair, Eyes, Facial Hair, Ears, Attributes, Skin Color
Factions
While you decide which faction you want to join (Exiles or Dominion), it's important to know that these 2 are at war. This means you cannot trade, talk to or group with members of the opposite faction. There's no good and evil as each has a different vision of the other.
Race
While all the races are unique in appearance, your faction will determine which races you have to choose from:
- If you choose the Exiles, you will be able to pick one of these races: Humans, Aurin, Granok, Mordesh.
- If you choose the Dominion, you will be able to pick one of these races: Cassian, Draken, Chua, Mechari.
Classes
Classes are the general fighting style of your character. From hand to hand combat to spellslinging, these will determine how you play when it comes to combat.
Note that each race can pick only some of the available classes.
Path
While classes determine how you will play in combat, paths determine your overall missions and objectives, therefore determining you overall goal in the game. Choosing a Settler, for example, will have you building things to aid your faction, while choosing a Soldier will have you fighting hoards of enemies.

You will use both the keyboard and the mouse to play as your character:

Combat & Controls
While in-game, there are some action elements that define the way you fight in Wildstar.
Free-Form Targeting
The new targeting system takes the traditional Tab based targeting, which lets you easily locate enemies, and allows you to use the majority of skills under manual control for precision and moment to moment control of your character.
Unfortunately, this means that skill in not only aiming, but avoiding other enemies attacks will become a focus. Movement to avoid enemies AOE or line targeting, while still trying to aim yourself, makes the combat interactive and fluid.
To help with aiming, you can mouse of a skill to show a targeting decal and holding down the button lets you aim and release.
Movement
While the game has the standard running and jumping controlled by W A S D, WildStar adds:
- Strafing: stay targeted on an enemy while running
- Double Jump: jump higher and further
- Sprint: run faster while holding Shift
- Dash: avoid attacks or close in on a target by pressing Ctrl + W/E
Additional class based movement skills such as leap attacks, teleporting, or switching places with others.
Warplots
-
PvP
The game will also have a player-vs-player component which will make it even more challenging. You will have to deal with other players and prove them that you're better in combat and strategy.
Player Housing
By purchasing a sky plot from one of the Proto-star specialists, you can start with simple designs and build up a more complex environment inside your home. While you upgrade your house with walls, roofs, doors, wallpapers, windows and furniture, other players can make use of your lands and help you if you give them permissions.
You will receive bonus XP if you log off in your house. The more advanced your house is, the more bonus XP you will earn.
Around your home there are lands which you can build facilities on. You can build Farms and Mine Sites which you can harvest resources from. These investments you build here are called Sockets. These will give you daily assignments to complete for rewards.
Mounts and Pets
There are references that suggest the game will allow players to have pets and mounts.
Galactic Archives
The game has a great feature called "The Galactic Archives". In-game, this panel covers the lore information about creatures, people, places and other things on the Nexus planet. It's said that the information within this section is revealed while playing the game (somehow unlocking this content). The Archives will cover the following sections: locations, factions, species, NPCs, creatures, plants, minerals, technology, lore, enemies and allies.
