KickBeat is a rhythm and fighting game with elements from games such as Gitaroo Man and Dance Dance Revolution to make a unique gameplay. Players must press the correct corresponding button of incoming enemies to defeat enemies and perform amazing "dance" moves.
The game follows the selected protagonist working to save the “Music Sphere" by defeating hordes of enemies.
Fighting
In order to combat enemies, the player needs to press the corresponding button, in the direction of the enemy's position, in time with the music. While some enemies require a basic button press, others require a more challenging selection of presses, such as a hold and release or double press.
Beating enemies will build up "Chi", which works much like star power in games like Guitar Hero. Fill up the meter and activate it to double your multiplier and make your character invincible.

Fail to defeat an enemy will result in taking damage, causing your health and Chi meter to drop. When the health meter is depleted, the song is over.
Enemies
There are multiple enemy types, each with their own approach based on their color.
- Yellow Enemies - attack on beats
- Blue Enemies - attack on half-beats (often in groups of two or three)
- Red Enemies - attack in groups (multiple buttons at once)

In some cases, yellow enemies will have a trail that connects them. This indicates that the button press will require a hold the button after striking the first enemy and releasing when the second attacks.
If an enemy has a glowing "500" over their head, pressing the correct attack button twice will grant 500 extra points, a chi boost, an increase in the multiplier, a temporary shield or a burst of shots that destroy any enemies circling you.
Other enemies may have a Yin and Yang over their head, which will grant extra Chi when defeated.
Victory Results
At the end of each stage, the player's score is calculated based on the enemies defeated and perfect hits and displayed on a scale of 4 outs of 5 stars.
Beat Your Music
In Beat Your Music, players can import their own songs and help the programming find the beat with a few button presses before trying to beat their own song choice.
