Mike Wikan first entered the world of video game development in 1993, when he began work as Senior Designer for n-Space. He worked there until 1997, when he left and joined Accolade. He was also appointed title as Senior Game Designer, and continued work there until 2000, when he left to join Retro Studios. As a Senior Game Designer at Retro, he worked on all of the company's titles from the original Metroid Prime to Donkey Kong Country Returns. In May of 2011, Wikan left Retro Studios to join id Software in Dallas as Lead Game Designer. He was a member of the Doom 4 development team, but was laid off in January of 2012.
