Details for the next instalment in BioWare's Mass Effect series may have leaked in an online survey. Information gleaned from the survey was posted onto Reddit and is remarkably detailed.

It's worth noting that information for another BioWare title - Dragon Age: Inquisition - leaked in a similar way back in 2012 and proved largely accurate.

Here are some of the key details the survey reportedly reveals:

The game takes place in the Helius Cluster and is far removed by time and space from the original trilogy.
You play as a pathfinder, a combat trained explorer leading an expedition into the Helius cluster to establish a new home for humanity.
You will encounter cut-throat outlaws and warring alien races, and in order to survive you must upgrade our arsenal, your ship, and your crew, and also make strategic alliances.
The forgotten technology of a once-powerful race called the Remnant holds the key to gaining power in the galaxy and you must race to uncover it first.
Once again you will recruit a crew. Each crew member has a unique personality and specific abilities.
You can explore each crew member's backstory via dialogue and unique side missions that will build up their loyalty towards you and unlock new abilities.
AI controlled Strike Team missions will net you rewards while you continue playing through the main game, or you can take control yourself and embark on Strike Team missions in single player or multiplayer.


A Horde multiplayer mode pits you and up to three of your friends against waves of increasingly tough enemy troops.
Establish settlements on habitable planets which will open up strategic choices.
Deeper control over your conversations with the ability to interrupt and change the course of some conversations as they happen.
Transitions between activities, like flying the Tempest (your ship), landing on a planet, and then exploring the planet is done without loading screens.
Customize the look of your squad and character with clothing and mods that unlock as you progress.
Remnant Vault Raids and Elite Remnant Vault Raids reward you with rare loot, narrative acclaim, and other rewards.
Khet Outpost missions similarly grant you experience and other rewards, including increased crew loyalty as you begin to push back the Khet presence in the region.
The Mako returns and can be upgraded in dozens of ways (such as adding turbo boosters, upgrading your shield generator, or giving it a custom paint job).
