Jenova Chen, the mind behind our 2012 Game of the Year, Journey, spoke with Polygon at DICE Summit 2013 about his next project. He mentioned that Journey's long development time had actually bankrupted the company, encouraging him to make sure thatgamecompany's next title would be profitable. This means the new title will almost certainly go multi-platform, a change from the company's previous titles, which were all published by Sony.
Chen also mentions that the new title will explore some of the same themes from Journey, while trying to improve on the experience. "Journey was focused on connection. I think we are trying to do one level above that with this game...This will be one level above that connection." He later added, “It’s very likely, that’s impossible."
Impossible? Hopefully not, as we'd love to see another title capture our hearts the way Journey did.
