As reported earlier, several indie developers who worked on games for Ouya have expressed concern that money owed to them would go unpaid following Razer's acquisition of the company.
Razer, however, has now tried to ease their concerns by confirming that they will pay any money owed.
"What we want to do is make sure we support indie developers," Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan told Polygon. "Razer will be backing the new Ouya publishing arm. So we are going to try and make good on this fund and give these developers an option."
The option would be for developers to sign a new contract with Razer that has the same specifics as the old deal with Ouya, with two exceptions: the game will no longer have to be exclusive to Ouya and the money given to developers will be used to give away copies of the game to users on Razer's Cortex storefront.
"The financial terms remain largely the same," Tan added. "This was a marketing campaign for Ouya to bring games to the Ouya platform exclusively. We don't want exclusives for any platform. What we will ask for is that whatever sums we invest in a game, we would like that same amount to be given away on Cortex."
