Electronic Arts unveiled new plant types, a game hub, and a Mass Effect mash-up for the upcoming Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 during its Gamescom 2015 press conference.
Three new zombie classes were introduced at E3 and now three new plants classes have been shown off at Gamescom. They are:
Rose: A sorceress that can cast spells, trap zombies in time snare bubbles, and turn zombies into goats.
Kernel Corn: He can call in popcorn airstrikes and has dual Cob Busters.
Citron: The time travelling bounty hunter orange who can fight zombies with his laser cannon and E.M.Peach.
A new Backyard Battleground hub will be added to the series in Garden Warfare 2. This is where every game starts and it acts as a kind of living playground. There will be daily quests, missions from Crazy Dave and Doctor Zomboss, and you can interact with other characters.
Up to three friends can be invited into your own hub as well, and the entire group can then warp into a game as a party.
Finally, a new mash-up with Mass Effect, called Grass Effect, was unveiled. A new Z7 mech, which has an N7 assault rifle and Mass Effect armor, will be made available to those who pre-order the game.
