Robomodo CEO Josh Tsui has explained why the development team changed the graphical style in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 just a couple of months prior to the game's release.
Robomodo's main goal was to run the game at 60fps and 1080p, with 20 people playing online in the same session. Since the goal was achieved the team was then able to improve the look of the game.
"We pay attention to everything the fans are saying, but that isn't what drove the visual upgrade," Tsui told GameSpot.
"I wouldn't describe the new style as cel-shaded, it's just more detailed and vibrant. Perhaps you can say it's more over-the-top--the lighting has been improved and we've pumped up the game's colors. Also, details like motion blur, depth of field, and outlining were tweaked, in the interest of improving the player's focus on the skater and nearby obstacles and terrain."
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 29th and on November 10th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
