Rumour: Konami Cuts Crucial MGS V Mission 46 Due to Financial Dispute

At this point there's a good chance a lot of you reading this will have sunk your teeth quite deeply into the latest instalment in the Metal Gear Solid series - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Some of you may already have finished the game, in which case you may have noticed that there's one pretty glaring omission: Mission 46. This mission is actually confirmed in the official guide for the game, but it mysteriously says that the information was removed at the request of Konami.

Now a video has been leaked onto YouTube (which you can view below, though it contains spoilers, obviously), which shows what remains of the mission.

So what's the reason behind this mysterious omission? Well, Kotaku is reporting that it's due to that simplest of things. Money. Because of the spiralling budget of the project, Konami took the decision to remove this pivotal chapter from the game in its entirety, leaving only remnants for those people who have managed to snag the collector's edition of the game.

Whether this is true or not will be determined in time, but if it is true then it's another example of the tensions that developed between Konami and Kojima towards the end of their relationship.
