Kitten Squad, a free-to-play title from PETA, is one of the more surprising PlayStation 4 releases in recent memory.
This twin-stick shooter has players taking control of a cute cat that is trying to save orcas from evil robots. No, really.
Taking aim at SeaWorld, or what the game calls SeaLand, PETA's free-to-play PlayStation 4 title is available now to download. It was developed by designer Luc Bernard, who previously created Mecho Wars and Pocket God vs Desert Ashes. It is also the first game developed for consoles by PETA.
"PETA's Kitten Squad lets gamers fight for animal liberation," said Joel Bartlett, PETA Senior Director of Marketing Innovations. "While players take on robots like the evil Sheep Puncher, they also learn how boycotting marine parks and buying wool-free sweaters help animals in the real world."
