Sony has released its earnings report for the quarter ending September 30th. Revenue is down slightly to $15.8 billion, while net profits were at $280 million.
The Games and Network Services division reported revenue increases of 16 percent year-over-year to just over $3 billion. Operating income increased 9.8 percent to $199 million. PSN and SEN sales increased 56.8 percent.
Sony revealed that it shipped four million PlayStation 4 consoles in the quarter. That brings lifetime shipments to 29.3 million. To compare, Eurogamer reports that the PlayStation 2 sold 24.99 million units during the same amount of time, the PlayStation 3 16.6 million units, the Xbox 360 13.4 million units, and the Wii 34.55 million units.
The estimated shipments for the PlayStation 4 for the full fiscal year have been increased by one million units to 17.5 million units. That compares to 14.8 million units in the last fiscal year.
