While the price of Sony’s PlayStation VR is still unknown, Shuhei Yoshida claims that it will not initially be priced at a profitable level.
When asked about the strength of Sony's virtual reality offering versus over the other virtual reality devices Yoshida said, “We are bringing a console mentality and also making developers test it fully before using their content. We tend to price hardware not to make money from it but to get as many install base so that content can be sold. This is the same kind of thinking in the way we are approaching PlayStation VR."
So while the exact price of the device remains a mystery, at least fans can rest easy knowing they won’t need to get a second job in order to afford one.
