he latest game in the Rock Band series, Rock Band 4, has finally landed on next generation platforms and sold an estimated 135,837 units in its first week worldwide, according to our estimates, which can be viewed on the VGChartz Global Weekly Chart for the week ending October 10th.
In a reversal of usual fortunes this generation, the Xbox One version performed best, shifting an estimated 85,241 units (63%), while the PlayStation 4 version lagged behind on 50,596 units (37%). This is likely due both to the relatively low debut for both versions as well as the legacy of the franchise's strong performance on the Xbox 360, which has partially carried over due to the fact that DLC purchased on previous generation consoles can be transferred to sister platforms in Rock Band 4.
Breaking down the sales by region, Rock Band 4 sold best in the USA with combined estimated sales of 102,601 units (76%). The game failed to make a large impact in Europe and sold just 14,413 units (11%).
Rock Band 4 launched on October 6th in North America and Europe.
