Supernatural Thriller Oxenfree Releases on Xbox One and PC in January

Independent studio Night School, which was formed by former Telltale and Disney alumni, has announced that its upcoming supernatural thriller Oxenfree will release on Xbox One and PC in January 2016.

Telling the tale of a group of teenage friends who accidentally open up a rift to the spiritual realm, Oxenfree is an impressive-looking indie game that has several mysteries for players to solve. Parts of the game were inspired by actual events, such as the World War II bombing of Oregon.

Players will make use of a complex conversation system that will change the protagonist's relationships as dialogue unfolds. You'll also be able to communicate with ghosts using the game's radio mechanic.

In Oxenfree’s case, that is a story filled with wonder and danger,” said Sean Krankel, the studio's co-founder. “Microsoft’s commitment to curating and nurturing the most exciting new game worlds and then delivering them to millions of players make them the perfect partner to help bring Oxenfree to life.”

We'll find out if Oxenfree can live up to its promise when it releases on PC and Xbox One in January 2016.
