Virtual Gaming Technologies is suing some of the biggest gaming publishers over patent infringement.
Electronic Arts, Activision, Zynga, Take-Two, and Konami have all made the same violations of the company's patents, according to the Texas-based firm.
Virtual Gaming Technologies has a patent that covers interactive games that are based on real life events, such as fantasy sports owners being able to trade players in the middle of a game, depending on the real life players' performance. One of the patents "covers interactive games based on real-time or taped television broadcasts."
Games that have been specifically mentioned include Electronic Arts' Madden, FIFA, and NHL series, Activision's NASCAR The Game: Inside Line, Zynga's NFL Showdown, Take-Two's NBA 2K15, and WWE 2K16, and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2015.
The tech company was formed on September 24th and received the patents on October 29th. It then quickly filed a suit on November 2nd against DraftKings, FanDuel, and DraftDay Gaming Group.
