There has been a new Assassin's Creed every year for the last six years. However, according to sources who spoke with Kotaku there will be no new entry in the series in 2016.
The next entry in the title won't launch until 2017 and is set in ancient Egypt according to the sources. The codename for the title is Empire.
The decision to delay the next game was done after the launch of Assassin's Creed: Unity. The game launched with many bugs and issues that took months to fix. The extra year of development time will hopefully prevent the same issues with the next game.
