Bandai Namco has put development of the crossover fighting title Tekken x Street Fighter on hold. Tekken series game director Katsuhiro Harada has told Gamespot that the reasoning behind the decision is to avoid splitting the Street Fighter and Tekken communities:
"When we develop fighting games, we try to keep the core community in mind as well as the wider audience that wants to play these games, but currently the situation is with fighting games, you have Street Fighter V that just released--a lot of people are playing that fervently--and there's a large crowd out there waiting or Tekken 7.
We don't want to split these communities, so a good window in which to release Tekken x Street Fighter is something that's become difficult recently. So it's on hold for the moment."
As Gamespot points out in the article linked to above, Tekken x Street Fighter was announced all the way back in 2010; Capcom's own Street Fighter x Tekken launched two years later, in 2012, but Bandai Namco's Tekken x Street Fighter has been a long time coming. It looks like fans will have to wait a lot longer now.
