Sega Actively Investigating Viability of Shenmue I and II Remasters

Following the successful Kickstarter campaign to bring Shenmue III to life, Sega is looking to capitalise on interest in the series by potentially remastering the first two titles.

Sega's community manager Dan Sheridan has confirmed that Sega is actively investigating the possibility of releasing remasters, however he cautiously notes that "it’s not as simple as porting the games to current platforms as we will need to ensure that any HD remaster lives up to the quality of the original titles", adding that "there are further complications from licensed products that were included in the original games".

However, despite these difficulties Sega would "love to do it", Sheridan claims, and is "currently investigating how to make it a reality".
