Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that his least favorite games was Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link. He explains that he didn't like it because it was too much of a change. It went from a top down view to a 2d side scroll game. Miyamoto also said that he simply didn't have fun with as much as he did with the first Zelda. He also stated that he felt he could have done so much more with the game, alas he didn't do more with it.

As a Zelda game, it did feel too different from the first game. However, as an adventure game, it did have its' challenges and uniqueness. Zelda 2 was sort of the Dark Souls game of the NES era: difficult but rewarding.
