2007's Crackdown by was one of the early great exclusives for the Xbox 360. A sequel in 2010 underperformed, however, and the franchise went dormant.

Until today, when Microsoft revealed an upcoming new entry to the series, so far simply called Crackdown, coming to Xbox One, and notably featuring the return of series creator David Jones, who is perhaps best known for also creating the Grand Theft Auto series.

Despite its number-less title, the game is not a remake of the original game, but instead a new entry to the series.
