A very odd message has appeared for some Skullgirls users. The message reads: "What is the square root of a fish? Now I'm sad."

Confused and intrigued by the message, one of the users that noticed it, SaikyoChamp, asked the developer on Twitter what it meant.

And the developers responded. It turns out that this is a way of saying "Why don't you buy the game?", and is a message directed to those who've pirated the game. The Twitter conversation that followed was quite amusing:

Skullgirls: "Oh that? It means you should probably buy the game instead of pirate it."

SaikyoChamp: "... I'm sorry. I kinda did a trybeforeyoubuy thing. I already bought it on PS3 and I'm planning on buying it for Steam, soon. I was about to buy it this morning BUT GAMESTOP DOESN'T SELL IT DIRECTLY ONLINE AND I DON'T WANNA LEAVE MY HOUSE!!!"

Skullgirls: "It’s all good, man. Well... I mean, it isn’t really, but I get it. Just try to do the right thing eventually."



It's certainly a unique and amusing approach to catching out and shaming video game pirates.
