Some gamers wondered why Ubisoft won't be releasing The Division on last-gen consoles. It turns out the answer is pretty blunt - according to Ubisoft it simply wouldn't work on them.
Speaking to Examiner, Executive Producer Fredrik Rundqvist said:
"We want the game to be as accessible as possible. What we wanted to do with the graphics and with the seamless open-world is not possible to do on last-gen."
He later commented on how sales of the PS4 and Xbox One are doing:
"If you look at the [sales] trends for PS4 and Xbox One, I think it looks really encouraging. It’s selling faster than last-gen, which is surprising to me. I don’t mind at all [that The Division] is coming out next year. There will be more people who can enjoy the game."
As a side note, if you were wondering about the game's PvP, you can't turn it off. Instead, if you don't want to fight other players you have to avoid the "Dark Zone".
