Bungie have announced that any progress made within the Destiny Beta will be wiped before the full retail release of the game this September.
Players that managed to reach the top level in the Beta (Level 8) will need to start again, but any medals unlocked will be kept (such as the medal for staying on Destiny in its final hours whilst the server underwent testing).
"Since the Beta, we’ve continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst." Tyson Green, a Designer at Bungie said in Bungie's latest blog post.
