Rise of the Tomb Raider is Exclusive to Xbox

It was announced today that Rise of the Tomb Raider is launching holiday 2015 exclusively on Xbox. Darrell Gallagher, the Head of Product Development at Crystal Dynamics, made the announcement at Microsoft's Gamescom conference today and explained the decision in more detail in this blog post:

"As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox. We consider all of you to be the lifeblood of Tomb Raider and the work we do at Crystal. I’d like to give you some insight into this decision, and why we feel this is the very best thing for the Tomb Raider sequel we’re creating at the studio."

As of right now, it's unclear whether or not Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to just the Xbox One or the Xbox platform in general. The wording of the announcement and the blog post suggests it's the latter. The wording of the announcement also suggests that the deal is for timed exclusivity only, but regardless this is undoubtedly a coup for Microsoft heading into the holiday period.
