Destiny's end-game is all about raids. The problem is, if you play Destiny alone or with just a couple of friends then chances are you'll never be able to finish a raid, and that's because Bungie decided that raids would difficult enough to require at least five friends. At the same time they failed to provide matchmaking, so you can't make up the numbers with strangers.
However, Bungie have now said that they are considering adding matchmaking to raids, although they are apparently worried it may cause more problems than it'll solve.
In a blog post, Bungie's Luke Smith wrote that he "understand everyone's frustration about the decision... and the limitations that this places on the activity's adoption at scale." He then goes on to say:
"The best I can do to answer your question is to let you know that you've been heard. We're having conversations about how Matchmaking might support the more challenging activities in Destiny. It's a start. Keep sounding off about it, and maybe someday some matchmade Fireteam mates will hear you, too."
So those of you that play Destiny on your own, rejoice! Soon your matchmaking prayers may be answered.
