Microsoft find themselves in a strange position with the Xbox One. They've managed to, in many ways, right the wrongs they committed with the Xbox One in 2013 and pump out some worthwhile games, yet they still find themselves on the back foot. On the software front there was plenty to enjoy for owners of the platform in 2014. Here are our favourites.

Sunset Overdrive
Sunset Overdrive was a breath of fresh air and one of the most enjoyable games of 2014. Providing gamers with a huge, colourful sandbox to mess around in, an absolutely absurd arsenal of weapons to employ, and an entertaining, cheesy story filled with humour, Sunset Overdrive was one of the Xbox One's first truly must-have exclusives.
