Before the events of Sly 3, he is recovered from the hospital by his friends, but he feels like he is a burden to the team in his current condition. This eventually makes Murray leave the team, since he believes it was his fault for Bentley's injuries, with him going to Australia to study the Aboriginal dreamtime arts.
In this game, Bentley has managed to outfit his wheelchair with various gadgets and weapons, making it so his weakness became a strength. He agrees to help Sly get into his family's vault, eventually reuniting with Murray and helping the team get some new members. Amongst one of the new members is Penelope, Bentley's love interest. Although she seems smitten by Sly at first, she falls for Bentley after being rescued by him on two separate occasions.
When confronting Doctor M near the end of the game, he questions whether or not he is merely a subordinate of Sly, since Sly tends to get all the credit when Bentley has done all the work. However, Murray qualms his worries, stating that they are true friends.
