Matthew is a secondary character in Fire Emblem, and makes minor appearences in the DLC and SpotPass content in Fire Emblem: Awakening.
Matthew appears in Lyn's Mode as a young and enigmatic thief, who assists the girl during her fight at Araphen, and helps her until the defeats of Lungren, at which point he disappears. It is later revealed that he is in fact an Ostian spy, in the employ of Lord Uther, and is close friends with Hector, assisting him in leaving Ostia, and following him for the rest of the game. He was implied to be in a relationship with the spy Lila, who was killed by Nergal on Valor. As a thief, he relies on his speed and skill whenever he is forced into combat, but prefers to avoid it in the first place.
