Malik Al-Sayf was a member of the Assassin Order and a head of the Assassin Bureau in Jerusalem in Assassin Creed. He and his brother, Kadar, were sent with Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad by Al-Mualim to recover the Templar treasure from Soloman's Temple. Unfortunately, due to Altair's reckless actions and breaking of the Creed's tenents, Malik's arm was amputated and Kadar was killed.
After Altaïr killed the traitor Al-Mualim and became the Mentor of the Levantine Assassins, Malik was promoted to second-in-command. Malik was later left in charge when Altaïr left for Mongolia, but was killed after Altaïr's rival, Abbas Sofian, staged a coup d'état and framed Malik for the death of Altaïr's son Sef.
