Kutaro is the main protagonist in Puppeteer. He is a native of Earth that was kidnapped and brought to the moon, where his soul was stolen by the Moon Bear King and placed into a puppet, set to serve as one of his guards in his palace. However, he was deemed useless and his head was devoured by the Moon Bear King, with his body tossed aside. To get his head back and return home, he steals a magical pair of scissors, called the Calibrus, and uses anything he can find for a head to help him defeat the Moon Bear King.
