Woodie is an yet unimplemented character in Don't Starve though he is scheduled for release during the unnamed July 2, 2013 update which will also bring changes to the pre-existing characters.
Like all characters, Woodie has traits that make him unique from the other characters in the game. When he wakes up, he starts with a special Axe called Lucy in his inventory and is capable of cutting down trees at nearly twice the speed of other characters. Lucy is indestructible and is a fully voiced character on her own speaking with a violin sound. As long as Lucy is out, she'll talk occasionally either about her surroundings or on the status of Woodie's Curse.
The Curse is that of the Were-Beaver. If Woodie cuts down too many trees in too short a period of time, he'll transform into a large Beaver creature which brings with it quite a few benefits. Woodie's Beaver Teeth act like a super powered combination Axe, Pickaxe, and Shovel but he is otherwise incapable of using his hands. This means that he's capable of leveling entire Forests or Rockylands in a day but not capable of picking up any of the objects he creates and similarly not capable of NOT digging up plants such as Bushes and Mushroom. Finally, when transformed, Woodie will not be attacked by the Grue.
There's also a toll for this transformation. Woodie must continue to eat wood, pinecones, or shrubs to maintain his form which would only last two minutes otherwise. When the wood meter in the upper right finally runs out, Woodie will pass out until the next morning and when he awakes, his Health, Sanity, and Hunger will all be half of what it was when he transformed. This transformation makes it quite easy to quickly gain building materials but you want to be sure that you don't wander to far from where you transform (as you drop your entire inventory) and that this location also has a way to replenish the stats you've lost.
