Arguably the most useful of the Mushrooms, the Green Mushroom has drastic effects on the player's sanity. Eating it raw will decrease your sanity by 50 points but eating it cooked will increase your sanity by 15. This allows you to move your sanity back and forth so that you can hunt Beardlings or get past Obelisks that require a certain sanity level.
With a stash of 16 of these and a single piece of Jerky you can completely drain your sanity and nearly fill it back up while suffering no ill effects to your health. Jerky would be a preferable method of restoring your sanity but because of the amount of time it can take to make a sufficient stack of jerky, Green Mushrooms can easily be used instead.
